No cardio...

Still no cardio at the end of day 2.  I have been doing some weight training and eating better.  My mantra will be "eat more...more calories."  So nice :o)

Distractions are coming and I wonder how I will integrate my exercise, health, and eating habits.

A New Journey - week 1, part 2

Gung-ho, I'm ready to go!  A pre-walk to get things going.  My bootcamp partner wants to stretch before class starts.  The class today is about working our booty.  Nice.

We sit.  We stretch.  We talk story.

People arrive, as well as our instructor.  Nice bunch of ladies; all ages and all sizes.

Stretching wasn't as long as I thought.  We start with a jog.  I start of at a good pace.  (This is the first time I jogged in years!)  I was surprised I lasted as long as I did.  My highschool knowledge kicks in and reminds me how to maintain my breathing.  The 1-lap is over and I'm out of breath!  Yikes!

Next, 20 yards of walking lunges, gorilla walks, high jumps, and skips.  Repeat.  It's beginning to hurt and burn.  My muscles are getting weak.

I push through.  More lunges and squats.  In my last lunge, I over extend and FALL OVER!  (Man, do I feel lame!  No shame cuz I'm okay).  Ground work is next and I can actually do this.

The rest is a blur.  More runs, lunges, squats, etc.  I feel my quads more than my glutes, and more than my abs.

The night progresses and I begin to move slower.  I toss in my sleep but still aware of the pain that is building.  I awake AND double-yikes.  I have a hard time standing out of bed.  I waddle to the bathroom and discover that it is even harder to sit on the toilet.  MY QUADS HURT AND I CAN BARELY WALK.

So I move slow throughout the day and decide that I can't go to class tonight, I can barely move.  Bending over is difficult.  Walking down my three stairs is difficult.  Walking up the stairs is just as hard.  Sitting IS HARD.  Standing IS HARD.  IT IS ALL HARD!

Day 2 - STILL HARD.  STILL feeling imobie.  FRACK!

A New Journey - A Healthy ME

I am ready to accept the things that I can do and change!  (Eeek, that sounds a bit like an AA meeting...)  As another month rolls along, along with another year of life, I have chosen to make a conscious effort to live a healthier life.  I will exercise more, eat a healthier diet, and make the conscious switch to get moving.

Today is the first day of the an 8 week Bootcamp.  My goal is to shed some pounds, become stronger, and get more energy.  I also began keeping a food diary and to my amazement, I am fully aware about the foods I consume in the day.  (Another eeek moment.)

Found a great app on my droid, which scans barcodes and syncs all my information.  Diet and exercise tracker will keep me fully aware of my bad habits.  Forcing me to recognize and own up to my lameness.  Fine!  I'm giving in and won't put up the fight anymore!

Since my last 'official' exercise regime occured a few months ago, I am nervous about my stamina in this bootcamp.  I do have goals and hope to create more at the end of the 8 weeks.  So far, I have maintained my goal of keeping track of my caloric intake.  Yay for me!  Next....is get moving!

Cleanse...everything is good.

After the intial first week, my cleanse is still going good. With a few 'slip up' days, I'm back on track and things are fine. I lost some weight and my jeans are a bit loose. Yippee!

I think I'll continue my cleanse until I run out of supplies.

Weekend is here and the cleanse falls short...

Day 6

I was ready to increase my dosage. Did not make time to eat breakfast, so I just had my morning coffee. Lunch came late and hard to do something healthy at the shopping center. First, entered Shirokiya’s food court…HARD & TEMPTING. Fried tempura, tons of sushi and rice dishes, noodles galore, and breads up the wazoo! So I convinced my friend that we try elsewhere for salad options. Since it was the mall and it was a Saturday, the wait would be long, so we ended up at Ruby Tuesday. I figured I can eat from the salad bar. Well, I ended up eating their turkey and avocado burger. It’s great because of their whole wheat bun, but bad with their 2 pieces of bacon and side-of-fries. I decided what the hell, indulge a little! The fries were yummy…and the bacon tasted great. I think I was doing good with my meal choices earlier in the week. Then to top it all off, I indulged more in a chocolate cake! AAAGGHHHH! Gerby goodness!

So I wasn’t feeling bad or anything. Walked around the mall a bit, did some shopping and browsing; hey, we just walked off some of those damn fries. Ended up getting a second coffee. Continued to shop for necessitites and realized that it was already 7:30pm. “Wholey crap!”

Not hungry since lunch was big and late. So I didn’t feel the need to finish the rest of my cleanse regime for the evening. I was partially afraid of what might happen if I took the meds with minimal food. So day 6 was only a partial day.

Day 7

Feeling bad that I strayed off the cleanse yesterday. So today, I’ll get back on track! I actually had some yogurt for breakfast and did not indulge in a big breakfast at the local pancake house.

Well…I strayed again for dinner. Family barbecue’s make it hard to make 100% healthy choices. So, although I had a salad, I also included a bit of potato salad, a piece of sweet potato, chicken, and some alcohol. I thought, since I indulged a bit yesterday, what harm it today too?

But that is where I have a problem! So I’ll get back on track in the week. Since I’ve been keeping a food journal too, I can really see the problems. Taking note of my environment and things I do also reflect on my abilities to stay away from red meat and refined sugars.

This blog and my food journal allows me to identify my weaknesses. After week 1, I recognize my issues. Let me try and make healthier choices in the next 3 weeks.

Cleanse - Day 2

Day 2

Going well and no crazy surprises. With so much water, I find myself heading to the restroom at least every hour! Still eating good with no red meat and refined sugars today! Yippee! But that doesn't mean I don't think about it...

In my attempts to get healthier, I preoccupy myself so I won't indulge in my sugar cravings. Cleaning out and deleting old picture on my laptop *damn* I find pictures of some of the foods I was eating prior to yesterday.

Look, there is asparagus on the plate too! (Wrapped in BACON!)

MY ULTIMATE WEAKNESS...chocolate chip brownie cookies. It's so frackin good!

Let the cleaning commence....

DAY 1 with Dr. Natura:

My cleanse begins today and so far, so good. I have also reduced my sugar intake in my coffee; not so good, but it will have to do. If I don’t like it, maybe I should stop? WTF? I’m going a bit crazy…without my morning coffee, I’ll need a nap by 2pm. So, scratch this idea…again!

Feeling bloated by the abundance of water; but it just goes through me.

No special or problematic events today.

Ate a healthy lunch, no unhealthy snacking, and a piece of fish and tomato soup for dinner. Although I was thinking about snacking and consuming some sugary snacks, I pre-occupied myself and overcame that craving….about five times today. Geez, I sound like an addict.

At 10:30pm and I’ve taken the last of my pills and drinking my cleansing tea.

All in all, it was a really good day.

Pre-Cleanse indulgences:

To my surprise, I received my cleanse earlier than anticipated. I am starting on Monday, July 19, 2010 and will endure this for 30 days. Anticipating my diet change, I began to indulge with red meat, refined sugar products, and alcohol. Some of my favorite of all times, I gorged out for the past week. Yes, I was scared that my jeans would not fit, I was pleased when my tight fitting jeans still fit. After the cleanse, I’m gonna have to wear a belt.

My 7 day Pre-cleanse indulgences:

• rib-eye steak with garlic and herbs
• fingerling buttery potatoes
• onion soup with cheese
• foie gras
• kobe burger with pesto sauce, sauteed mushrooms, pepper jack cheese, carmelized onions
• truffle and parmesean cheese french fries
• spicey ahi inari; unagi and avocado donburi
• gnocchi with garganzola sauce
• tiramisu
• pancakes

Starting tomorrow, I attempt to omit all red meat. Can I go raw? Highly unlikely, but I'll do my best to keep my food clean and healthy.

My main goal is to rid my body of toxins.

I think it is time to detox...

Yup, detox! I last did a full detox a while ago; I don't know why I haven't done one sooner? DrNatura has a greate cleanse. I don't understand why people get grossed out by this? If more people were to realize the amount of 'junk' we have stored in our body, they would be amazed.

Actually, detoxing can get a bit gross. It is gross to see what actually comes out. YUP, I admit it, I look at my poop. So do most people, you just can't say it aloud. It's ok, to each his own.

What comes out can be gross, but when you realize that it is actually OUT of you *sigh* such relief.

I'll post updates...but I gotta go order it first. I was just reminded about this and began thinking why I didn't do it sooner. After thinking about it, 'crap' got in the way. And it is literally blocking my way now!

A healthy start...

In my attempts to get healthier, my friend and I began walking. This day, we walked on Kailua beach and the water was super crowded with kite surfers. With the wind and rain, we walk down the beach. With so many kite surfers in the water, I thought they looked like Iwa birds.

Back in the day, before the world knew about kite surfing, I watched this lone guy sail up and down Kailua beach. At the time I thought, "This guy is a genius. Who the heck is he? Whoa he's getting major aerials out there!" Soon enough, I learnt that it was Robby Naish. Well, I'm not suprised. I'd like to say that I was one of the first to witness the sport in the making. Now...the waters are infultrated with so many kite surfers, it looks a bit crazy. I wonder, with the amount of people out there, a regular boater can't make there way through. Well, tuff sh** for them I guess.

So back to the exercise regime...well, I guess it's not much of an exercise when our water bottles are filled with New Castle and a Vodka cocktail. What the hell...we will persevere and make it to the trails of Daimond Head.
